Job summary

Xia Engineering in Caerphilly, Wales, is seeking a Lead Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a hands-on, 70% shop-floor role with 30% supervision. You will own technical maintenance, PLC fault-finding, and site facilities, while coaching a team of engineers to safety and reliability standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in maintenance in manufacturing, 18th Edition, and a full UK driving licence. The role offers a salary of £50k–£57k plus private medical, pension, and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

HND or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
Wiring Regulations: 18th Edition qualification.
5+ years hands-on maintenance in modern manufacturing.
Supervisory/leadership experience on shop floor.
Strong electrical fault-finding and PLC diagnostics capabilities.
Experience maintaining site services and utilities.
Full UK Driving Licence.
IOSH Managing Safely or health & safety cert is desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide 70% hands-on electrical/ mechanical fault-finding and diagnostics on high-speed production lines.
Mentor and direct a team of maintenance engineers and technicians on safety and engineering standards.
Utilise PLC fault-finding skills to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
Oversee site services, power distribution, HVAC, compressed air and utilities.
Lead Preventative Maintenance programmes, RCA and asset performance via CMMS.
Ensure compliance with 18th Edition standards and health & safety regulations.
