Job summary

BGIS UK & Europe is seeking a Mechanical-bias Maintenance Engineer (plumber/plumbing preferred) in Central London. You will maintain M&E systems, monitor the Building Management System, and carry out planned and reactive maintenance to keep our offices running smoothly.

This hands-on role requires strong technical knowledge and the ability to work with colleagues, subcontractors, and client representatives.

Qualifications

Formal training in mechanical systems (City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent).
Strong understanding of HVAC systems and controls.
Experience maintaining pumps, valves, piping and plumbing components.
Ability to diagnose faults in mechanical plant including chillers, boilers and AHUs.
Familiarity with BMS for monitoring environmental conditions.
Good health and safety practices, permits to work and risk assessments.
Excellent communication skills and IT proficiency for maintenance records.

Responsibilities

Monitor and manage the BMS to maintain acceptable internal conditions.
Lead investigations into environmental conditions, system failures, and faults.
Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on M&E plant and equipment.
Diagnose and resolve faults with air conditioning, UPS, generators, and LV systems.
Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, including permits to work.
Maintain accurate records in the maintenance system and complete documentation.
Supervise subcontractors and ensure work meets BGIS standards.
Keep plant rooms secure, clean, and well-organised.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas for enhancement.
