Job summary

The NICI Newquay is seeking an exceptional Assistant General Manager to lead Amalfi’s through its next chapter. This highly visible, hands-on role thrives on the restaurant floor, inspiring the team and delivering extraordinary guest experiences with energy and polish.

Partnering with the Restaurant General Manager, you will drive service culture, uphold standards, coach staff and ensure flawless guest journeys across breakfast, lunch, dinner and private dining.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a quality restaurant, luxury hotel or premium hospitality environment.
• Proven track record of delivering excellent guest service and maintaining high operational standards.
• Strong hands-on restaurant management experience, including leading busy services.
• Ability to motivate, coach and develop a diverse team.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong food and beverage knowledge, with an appreciation of quality ingredients, wines, cocktails and contemporary dining.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of labour management, stock control and operational profitability.
• Confidence in handling guest feedback and resolving service challenges.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and key trading periods.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead service from the floor, maintaining a strong presence during key trading periods.
• Set and consistently maintain exceptional standards of service, presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail.
• Ensure every shift is professionally organised, with clear briefings, effective deployment and strong communication.
• Anticipate operational challenges and take proactive action before they affect the guest experience.
• Take ownership of service delivery in the absence of the Restaurant General Manager.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and wider hotel management teams to deliver a seamless guest experience.
• Demonstrate personal accountability and ensure that agreed standards are consistently delivered.
