Job summary

The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at UHD are seeking a motivated Speciality Doctor in hand surgery and trauma to join the Hand Service team. You will work with consultants to provide patient care and contribute to a developing integrated service across Bournemouth and Poole sites.

Key duties include supervising junior staff, attending education and governance meetings, and participating in regular appraisals. Weekend work is part of the role.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
• Completion of Foundation training and FRCS.
• ALS certification is required.
• Eligibility for UK registration and English language proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient care alongside specialty doctors and registrars.
• Supervise and support junior medical staff and allied professionals.
• Attend ward rounds, governance meetings and educational sessions.
• Participate in the hospital appraisal process as part of professional development.
• Weekend work is expected in this role.
