Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Hand Surgery and Trauma to join the Trauma & Orthopaedics Hand Service. You will work with a team including named consultants to provide inpatient care, assist in education sessions, and participate in governance and appraisal processes.

The post is based across Bournemouth/Poole Hospital sites with opportunities to contribute to an integrated trauma service as the Trust undergoes transformation.

Qualifications

• Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.
• Ability to prioritise workload and use initiative.
• Full GMC registration with licence to practice is required.
• Good level of computer literacy and IT research skills.
• Evidence of team leadership and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to inpatients including new admissions alongside specialty doctors.
• Supervise and support junior medical colleagues and allied practitioners.
• Attend ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings; contribute to clinical governance.
• Participate in hospital appraisal and ongoing professional development.
• Weekend work is an expected requirement.
