Job summary

We are seeking an Operations Manager to join a chemical manufacturing business based in Halifax. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a small production and engineering team on the shop floor to deliver safe, compliant and efficient operations.

Reporting to the UK Managing Director, you will manage 10-12 staff, drive continuous improvement, and ensure production plans are met while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications

• Chemical manufacturing experience is essential.
• 3–5 years in Production Manager or equivalent leadership role.
• Experience leading shop-floor teams and coordinating across production, engineering and QA.
• Strong HSE knowledge and commitment to safety standards.
• Experience with ISO quality standards and manufacturing compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 10–12 Production and Engineering staff on the shop floor.
• Plan and monitor production schedules to ensure safe, cost-effective operations.
• Resolve production, process and engineering issues to minimise downtime.
• Coach and develop supervisory staff including senior operators and supervisors.
• Ensure regulatory and ISO quality compliance across the site.
• Manage budgets related to repairs, renewals and contractors.
• Collaborate with Planning, Warehouse, QC, QA, HSE and HR to meet site objectives.
