Job summary

Heart of England Training LTD in Leicester is seeking an experienced Hairdressing Trainer/Educator to join the team full-time at our Leicester Academy, teaching learners aged 16-19 and apprentices on day-release programmes.

The role requires flexibility, empathy and reliability; you will support progression, carry SEN responsibilities, assess competence, and plan individual programmes with regular progress reviews. Benefits include health care, pension, and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• Qualified hairdressing trainer with teaching experience.
• Experience supporting learners aged 16-19.
• Experience with assessments and occupational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students through to the successful conclusion of their training programme.
• SEN responsibilities.
• Offer individual learner support where needed.
• Teaching occupational skills to students.
• Assessing students for competence in their qualification as required by the awarding body.
• Ensuring students complete their training programme on target as agreed with the recruitment consultant and student, as detailed on the Individual Learning Plan.
• Agreeing an individual training programme with each student, and monitoring this to ensure that the student is working to the targets agreed.
• Training (or arranging training) for students to ensure they have sufficient competence to successfully complete their training programme.
• Using appropriate lesson plans for teaching as determined by the Training Manager.
• Identifying and addressing gaps in achievement.
• Maintaining a record of progress and achievement for each student.
• Giving constructive feedback on achievement and performance to students.
• Meeting regularly for standardisation and training with other Assessors and/or Internal Verifiers.
