Job summary

The Growth Company Education and Skills team is recruiting a Hairdressing Tutor to design, deliver and assess training that boosts student achievements. This is a part-time role (22.5 hours/week, Mon-Wed) with pro rata salary and a focus on practical hairdressing expertise and safeguarding of learners.

You will plan schemes of work, use tech to support delivery, and assess progress while encouraging learners to complete qualifications and progress into skilled employment.

Qualifications

• Must hold teaching qualification – PGCE, PGDE, Cert Ed or DTLLS.
• Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing is required.
• Level 6 PTLLS or CertEd qualification essential.
• Experience designing schemes of work and lesson plans.
• Ability to assess and monitor student progress.
• Familiar with OFSTED inspection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out initial and on-going assessment to ensure students are on the right programme.
• Plan and design appropriate training programmes (including development of schemes of work, lesson plans, Apprenticeship Learning Plans etc).
• Adopt effective use of new technologies to enhance the learning experience.
• Deliver high quality, engaging training to encourage learners to attend, stay on programme and achieve.
• Manage the safe evacuation of students in the event of fire or other emergency, following company procedures and health and safety rules.
• Mark/assess students’ work, provide structured feedback and set development objectives.
• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across the study programme, supporting learners to achieve qualifications and progression goals.
• Provide subject-specific support and guidance, ideally involving Employability.
