Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking a Hairdressing Lecturer for a Further Education college. You will plan, prepare, and deliver hairdressing lessons across Level 1-3, combining practical skills with theory to prepare learners for industry.

The role welcomes experienced lecturers and industry professionals transitioning to teaching. You will promote safeguarding, assess learners, and build links with local salons for work placements, with a focus on high-quality learner support.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Hairdressing qualification or above.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or higher.
• Teaching qualification or equivalent required.
• Assessing qualification (TAQA/A1/CAVA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Hairdressing lessons across Level 1-3 programmes.
• Teach practical and theoretical aspects of hairdressing per awarding body requirements.
• Assess learner progress via practical observations and assignments.
• Provide feedback and support to help learners reach their potential.
• Maintain a safe, professional salon learning environment.
• Track learner attendance, progress and achievement using college systems.
• Support tutorials, pastoral care and employability skills.
• Build relationships with local salons for work placements and industry engagement.
• Participate in curriculum development, quality assurance and departmental meetings.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in teaching activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Hairdressing lessons across Level 1-3 programmes.

• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all teaching activities.
• Level 3 qualification (or above) in Hairdressing.
• Recent industry experience within a commercial salon.
• Strong practical skills across cutting, colouring, styling, and client care.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learner support.
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent).
• Assessing qualification (TAQA, A1, CAVA, or equivalent).
• Experience teaching Hairdressing within a Further Education setting.
• Knowledge of current industry trends, techniques, and awarding body standards.
• Experience supporting apprenticeships or work-based learning.
