Job summary

York Hospital in the Haematology Department is seeking a motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to support Biomedical Scientists and ensure accurate, timely testing for patients. The MLA will assist with sample processing, data entry, and basic laboratory tasks in a professional NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Good standard of general education and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process blood samples for Haematology clinic patients.
• Receive samples from within the hospital and GP practices.
• Input patient information and test requests into the laboratory system.
• Prepare samples for analysis and load them onto analysers.
• Answer queries from medical staff and other service users.
• Carry out general housekeeping and administrative tasks.
