The Nurse Specialist will provide support for the patient and family from diagnosis through treatment and throughout the cancer journey.
Using advanced communication and psychological assessment skills the CNS will aim to assess and alleviate the psychological distress for cancer patients and their families, including identification of need for onward
referral to other agencies and disciplines as appropriate.
Provide education and specialist advice to patients, their carers and staff on the specific care and treatment for the speciality.
Acts as a valuable resource for the multi-professional team.
Set standards of care, influence the work of other professional groups and act as a change agent.
Work as a core member of the MDT supporting the cancer pathway to improve the patient experience.
