Job summary

Wirral Community Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust in St Helens is seeking a 30-hour, part-time School Nurse to join the North Team within the Integrated 0-19 service. You will work with schools, families and the wider community to improve health and identify vulnerable children, developing clear referral pathways to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

• Motivational Interviewing trained and Promotional Interviewing trained.
• Experience of managing a School Nurse Caseload and leading care planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead the school nursing caseload and contribute to safeguarding and public health initiatives.
• Work with schools, families and the wider community to improve health and develop clear referral pathways.
• Collaborate with St Helens Local Authority to advance the children’s agenda and integrated services.

St Helens- North Team

There is a vacancy in the North Team for a 30-hours, part- time School Nurse to work with an Integrated 0-19 Team including school nurses and health visitors.

Working with schools, families and the wider community to improve the health of schoolaged children identifying the more vulnerable and developing clear referral pathways so that all children and young people can reach their full potential.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have proven leadership, experience and knowledge of school nursing. If you want to make a difference to the health of school aged children within St Helens and have a commitment to reducing health inequalities and work with vulnerable families, we would very much like to hear from you.

You will work closely with the, education and social care to provide services in response to identified need, both public health and safeguarding. whilst working in partnership with St Helens Local Authority to take the local children’s agenda forward.

School Nursing is a fast paced, dynamic and challenging service, and as a School Nurse with us you will be given opportunity to demonstrate leadership whilst working within the public health, health promotion and safeguarding domains.

You should be well organised, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people both in school and within other education provider settings. You must be committed to working effectively both within a team and independently. An in depth knowledge of the current trends and developments within school nursing and the health agenda relating to children’s services is essential.
