Job summary

Metlen Energy & Metals is seeking a Site H&S Supervisor for the EGL1 Project, based in Murton, UK. You will implement HSE requirements, review risk assessments, and maintain site safety documentation to ensure compliance with statutory obligations and client expectations.

Bring 3–5 years of construction HSE experience, NEBOSH qualification, and strong English communication. You will lead safety initiatives, conduct inspections, investigations, and inductions, promoting a proactive safety culture

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of construction HSE experience on large-scale projects.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Good knowledge of UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations 2015.

Responsibilities

• Review construction activities, work methodologies and risk assessments to address safety risks.
• Prepare, maintain and update site HSE documentation and records.
• Support emergency response plans, traffic management and fire safety procedures.

• Coordinate site inspections, audits and corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses and produce reports and recommendations.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure adherence to policies and best practices.
• Deliver HSE inductions and toolbox talks.

We are currently looking for aSite H&S Supervisor to join the EGL1 Project team, as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen, based in Murton, UK.

Your role will encompass:

• Implementing HSE requirements and ensuring compliance with project, client, and statutory obligations.
• Reviewing construction activities, work methodologies, and risk assessments to identify and address foreseeable health and safety risks.
• Preparing, maintaining, and updating site H&S documentation and records.
• Supporting the implementation of emergency response plans, traffic management arrangements, and fire safety procedures.
• Leading HSE initiatives across the site and monitoring subcontractor compliance with HSE requirements.
• Coordinating site inspections, audits, and corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
• Investigating incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, producing detailed reports and recommendations.
• Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
• Delivering HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives as required.

What you bring to the role:

• Minimum 3–5 years of construction HSE experience, preferably within large-scale infrastructure, power generation, energy, or EPC projects.
• Experience working on major construction or industrial sites.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent HSE qualification.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH) would be considered an advantage.
• Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline is desirable.
• Good understanding of UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations 2015, and construction safety practices.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
