Job summary

Simply Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced H&S Manager to lead and develop Health & Safety across a busy manufacturing site near Leyland.

The role is hands-on, ensuring legislative compliance and driving a proactive safety culture, with responsibilities for risk assessments, incident investigations, contractor management, and emergency procedures.

Salary is c£52-62,500 p.a. plus holidays and pension, with negotiable terms based on experience.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent required.
• Extensive health and safety experience in manufacturing settings.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation (PUWER, DSEAR, COSHH, RIDDOR).
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Hands-on approach in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Health & Safety policies, procedures and initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, including PUWER, DSEAR, COSHH and RIDDOR.
• Complete and oversee risk assessments covering machinery, chemicals, manual handling, noise, DSE and warehouse activities.
• Lead accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Manage liability claims and liaise with insurers, legal advisors and relevant internal teams.
• Oversee contractor management, permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
• Maintain emergency procedures covering fire safety, first aid, spill response and evacuation.
• Carry out audits, inspections and toolbox talks.
• Provide Health & Safety advice, guidance and training to managers and employees.
• Monitor H&S performance and report on key measures.
• Act as the main point of contact for regulators, enforcement bodies, insurers and external auditors.
• Promote a positive and proactive Health & Safety culture throughout the site.

Salary is c£52-62,500 per annum (negotiable, depending on experience) plus holidays, pension etc.

About the H&S Manager role:

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Significant Health & Safety experience within manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering or construction would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Confident working with stakeholders at all levels.
• Practical, proactive and able to operate effectively in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
