Job summary

The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a junior sister post in Benign Gynaecology Outpatients. The role supports women through colposcopy, hysteroscopy and fast-track referrals, while leading the department's daily routine and deputising for the Senior Sister.

You will mentor junior staff and oversee audits and staffing alongside clinical duties. Experience in gynaecology nursing and a commitment to patient-centred care are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma level or above nursing qualification.
• Consolidated experience evidenced in a personal professional portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Support women through the gynaecology outpatient pathway, including colposcopy, hysteroscopy, two-week referral and gynaecology clinics.
• Support consultant and junior doctor clinics and the care and safety of women during diagnostic and treatment procedures.
• Advocate for patients and refer to the consultant gynaecologist or senior nurse as appropriate.
• Provide ongoing emergency care per protocol until further support arrives, following escalation procedures.
• Support women and families through complex emotions during gynaecology treatment.
• Manage the department's daily routine and deputise for the Senior Sister.
• Manage quality, clinical care, patient experience and resources.
• Arrange daily staffing and staff allocation.
• Ensure audits, appraisals and off-duty are completed in good time.
• Provide clinical expertise and support to junior team members, healthcare assistants and students.
• Ensure safe and efficient patient flow, including pre-assessment and enhanced recovery for women booked for surgery.
• Liaise with the MDT, other teams, specialist nurses and secretaries on pathways and clinic preparation.
