Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a motivated administrative professional to join the Gynaecology Oncology support team. You will help ensure appointments and treatments are managed efficiently and patient information is handled with care.

Working with coordinators and managers, you will monitor patient pathways, prepare reports, and contribute to service planning while following NHS policies and trust procedures. A team-focused, patient-centered approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • English GCSE (A-C) or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
  • Administrative experience and IT skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


  • Support the Gynaecology Oncology team to provide a high-quality service for patients and help ensure appointments and treatments are managed effectively.

  • Work closely with coordinators and managers to monitor patient pathways and support key NHS waiting time and cancer treatment targets.

  • Prepare reports, maintain accurate records and help analyse information to support service planning and performance.

  • Follow Trust policies and procedures, including patient access and confidentiality requirements, to ensure work is carried out safely and correctly.

  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues across the Trust and contribute to service improvements that benefit patients.

  • Help manage office resources and supplies, while supporting the efficient and effective use of Trust resources.

Essential criteria


  • English GCSE (A-C) (9-4) or equivalent qualification or experience

  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

  • Administrative experience

  • Experience of working with software programmes

  • Computer literate with IT skills e.g. use of

  • Experience of dealing with patients/clients

  • Good organisational skills

  • Good keyboard skills

  • Excellent telephone manner

  • Willing to travel and work across sites if required


Desirable criteria


  • ECDL

  • RSA Stage 3

  • Previous NHS experience

  • Experience of using Trust software such Somerset and Careflow

  • Understanding and knowledge of \"choice\" in healthcare

  • Knowledge of NHS polices
