Job summary

JD Gyms in Leeds is seeking a proactive Gym Manager to lead daily operations, drive membership growth, and exceed sales targets while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer service.

You will manage openings and closings, supervise cleaning staff, and ensure brand compliance. The role requires weekend work and a passion for developing a successful team in a busy leisure facility.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in a management position within a leisure related industry.
• Must be passionate about customer service and be an inspirational leader in the way they manage.
• Must be qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor
• Must have experience in driving sales and helping to co-ordinate local marketing activity as well as managing a successful team.
• Ideally will have experience as an Assistant Manager or Fitness Manager or similar operational function

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the operational running of the gym at all times, opening and closing when required.
• Work early mornings, late weekdays, and weekends as needed.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and Company Procedures Handbook.
• Maintain JD Gyms Brand Standard across the site.
• Conduct regular safety checks and report defects to keep equipment safe.
• Aim to hit all sales and membership targets set for the site.
• Drive and maximise secondary spend revenue.
• Ensure the gym is spotless; manage cleaning hours and supervise cleaners.
• Uphold uniform standards and exceptional member service.
• Foster a positive team environment where staff enjoy their work.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties and projects as required.
• Represent JD Gyms as an ambassador at all times.

Role overview:

This role requires a team player with flair and commercial ability, and the skill, energy and determination to help drive and develop the business alongside the General Manager.

We are looking for a manager with experience of maintaining and developing the standards and reputation, whilst nurturing a growing membership base and team.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the operational running of the gym at all times. Opening and closing site when required due to operational hours of the business.
• Expectation to work early in the morning, late weekdays, and weekends.
• Ensure that all policies and procedures in both the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
• Responsible for adhering to and maintaining the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks. Report and chase all defects, to ensure the building and its equipment is safe to use.
• To work towards and aim to achieve all sales and membership targets that are set.
• To drive and maximise secondary spend revenue.
• To ensure the whole of the gym facility is of the highest standard of cleanliness. Maintain outside of the contract cleaning hours.
• Ensure the in-house cleaners (General Assistant) are cleaning to the highest standard.
• To ensure uniform standards are being adhered to by all team members and yourself.
• To always deliver outstanding member service.
• To help create an environment where the team and contracted personnel enjoy themselves whilst at work.
• To undertake any other reasonable duties/projects/meetings, that may be required.
• To always be an ambassador of JD Gyms.
