Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is seeking a Customer Service Assistant to support customers at Reading Station during railway engineering works. You will welcome passengers, provide travel information, and assist with replacements while ensuring safety and excellent service.

Role includes shifts 08:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00, with additional patterns as needed. Applicants must be 18+, eligible to work in the UK, and able to commit to all required dates.

Job description

Customer Service Assistant - Reading Train Station

We are recruiting Customer Service Assistants to support customers at Reading Station during planned railway engineering works.

As the first and last point of contact on a customer's journey, you will play a vital role in providing assistance, directions and travel information while replacement bus services operate in place of trains. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role where delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring passenger safety are our top priorities.

Pay rate: £13.45

Dates

• 27th November 2026 to 30th November 2026
• 24th December 2026 to 3rd January 2027

Excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day. You must be available to commit to all required dates to be considered for this role.

Shift Times

• 08:00 - 14:00
• 14:00 - 22:00

Additional shift patterns may be available depending on operational requirements.

Important Location Requirement

Due to the nature of these engineering works and replacement transport arrangements, applicants must live locally to Reading Station or have a reliable means of travelling to and from work.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be aged 18 years or over.
• Be physically fit and capable of standing and walking for extended periods.
• Hold a valid Right to Work in the UK.
• Have good spoken English and clear communication skills.
• Be able to commit to all required working dates.
• Be reliable, punctual and professional.

Please note that a zero-alcohol and zero-drugs policy applies to all railway operations. Any employee reporting for duty under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to work and may be subject to removal from the assignment.
