Job summary

De La Rue in Debden is seeking a Guillotine Operator to maximise output while upholding strict quality and health & safety standards across the cutting process. You will work a 24/5 shift pattern on three 12-hour crews, earning a base salary of £42,965 per year, rising to £45,576 after probation, with experience in manufacturing and finishing giving you the edge.

You will also liaise with Bay leaders and QC to ensure minimal spoilage and compliance with SOPs, blades maintenance, and on-time

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, operating mechanical equipment (Essential)
• Computer literate (Essential)
• Comfortable working with numbers demonstrated through previous experience or relevant qualifications (Essential)
• Good eyesight and attention to detail (Essential)
• Ability to demonstrate clear communication & interpersonal skills
• Competent in all aspects of guillotine cutting and autonomous maintenance
• Experience of finishing processes

Responsibilities

• Ensure guillotines are run in a safe & proper manner
• Maximise guillotine efficiency to produce consistently high output and quality including interfacing with Bay leaders and QC to ensure quality cut standards are achieved with minimum spoilage.
• Problem solving on the guillotine, identifying technical problems, and providing solutions.
• Control and monitor associated paperwork
• Maintain maintenance schedule and consumables levels for the guillotines. I.e. blades
• Meet production targets set by management.
• Ensure a full and efficient shift changeover occurs and the correct information is communicated
• Actively support continuous improvement activities within the whole of DLR to maintain the company’s efficiency and competitiveness.
• Disciplined and able to follow SOPs to standardise working practices, be they operational or safety related

Job description

We have an opportunity for a Guillotine Operator to join our team at our site in Loughton, Essex. Reporting to the Finishing Process Lead, you will be required to ensure guillotine output is maximised and quality standards, including cut registration adherence, are maintained across the process whilst adhering to health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure guillotines are run in a safe & proper manner
• Maximise guillotine efficiency to produce consistently high output and quality including interfacing with Bay leaders and QC to ensure quality cut standards are achieved with minimum spoilage.
• Problem solving on the guillotine, identifying technical problems, and providing solutions.

Contract type: Permanent

Working hours: 24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift

Base location: Debden

Basic Salary: £42,965 per annum. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probation period, this will rise to £45,576 per annum.
