Job summary

ibis Southampton Centre is hiring a Guest Service Assistant to greet guests, manage check-ins and check-outs, and support food & beverage service. The role is full-time and located in Southampton, offering £12.95 per hour with employee discounts and career progression opportunities.

Experience in hospitality is beneficial but not essential. A friendly, reliable team player with strong communication skills and comfort using hospitality tech will fit well.

Job Description

Join ibis Southampton Centre as a Guest Service Assistant and become the face of the hotel, delivering memorable experiences for guests from arrival to departure. This full-time role offers £12.95 per hour, excellent employee benefits and the opportunity to build a rewarding career in hospitality.

We're looking for a friendly, professional and customer-focused individual to join our team. Whether you already have hospitality experience or are looking to develop your skills within a hotel environment, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in a varied role at the heart of the guest experience.

Conveniently located close to Southampton Central Station and the city's cruise terminals, ibis Southampton Centre welcomes a mix of business travellers, leisure guests and cruise passengers throughout the year.

The Role

As a Guest Service Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring every guest receives a warm welcome and outstanding service throughout their stay. Working across reception and food & beverage operations, you'll help create a seamless guest experience while maintaining high standards across the hotel.

Key responsibilities include:

• Welcoming guests and managing check-ins and check-outs
• Processing payments and handling guest enquiries
• Preparing and serving food and beverages
• Providing local area information and assisting with guest requests
• Supporting conference and meeting room set-up when required
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
• Working closely with colleagues across all departments to deliver excellent service
  
  

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service.

Previous hospitality or hotel experience would be an advantage but is not essential. More importantly, you'll be warm, reliable and eager to learn.

You'll also have:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A professional and positive attitude
• Confidence using technology and learning new systems
• A flexible approach to shift work, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
