Job summary

Holt Engineering Ltd in Ferndown is seeking a motivated Controls Engineer to support PLC/HMI projects, legacy troubleshooting and product integration. You’ll work with a Senior Engineer and gain hands-on experience across automation and control systems.

Starting with troubleshooting and configuration, you’ll gradually contribute to new design work, with training and progression built into the role. This position offers a clear path into advanced automation and control engineering.

Qualifications

• HND-level knowledge in electronics, electrical engineering, automation, controls, software engineering or similar.
• Able to interpret technical information and work through problems logically.
• Some practical exposure to PLCs, HMIs, control systems, automation or electrical/electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Support troubleshooting and configuration of existing and legacy control systems
• Investigate functional issues found during machine build, test or commissioning stages
• Use engineering and configuration tools to identify control system problems and resolve them
• Work with a Senior Engineer to understand PLC, HMI, I/O and automation requirements
• Help adapt control systems so machines function correctly and consistently
