Job description

If you're an ambitious horticulturist who wants to take ownership of crops, trial new growing methods and make a real impact, this is an opportunity to do just that.

Would you like to join a growing business with a bright future, where you'll have the freedom to make decisions, develop new products and help shape the future of commercial growing?

What's in it for you?
  • A competitive salary dependent on experience + pension scheme
  • 35 days holiday
  • Full-time, Mon-Fri, 8:00 - 16:00
  • The opportunity to make a genuine impact in an innovative, growing business.
  • Real autonomy to take ownership of crop management, introduce improvements and see the results of your decisions.
  • The chance to work closely with the Head of Agronomy, developing your technical knowledge while having the freedom to get on with things independently.
  • Exposure to new crop development, propagation and data-driven growing methods.
What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it)
  • You'll take responsibility for crop monitoring and management, ensuring plants meet customer specifications and maintaining high standards of plant health, quality and growth.
  • Develop new growing methods. Working alongside the Head of Agronomy, you'll help refine growing practices, improve crop performance and explore new opportunities for the product range.
  • You'll develop the plug production stages for plants grown from seed, cuttings and tissue culture, helping bring new crops into commercial production.
  • You'll collect, analyse and interpret crop data and trial results, using your findings to improve yields, consistency and commercial performance.
  • You'll collaborate with operations, planning and technical teams to coordinate production and maintain a consistent supply of high-quality plants.
  • You'll report to and work closely with the Head of Agronomy, with the opportunity to take ownership of your area rather than simply follow instructions.
What you'll need
  • Experience in a commercial horticultural environment, ideally within ornamental plants.
  • A sound understanding of plant health, crop management and growing requirements, with an interest in developing your agronomic expertise.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to understand crop performance and inform decisions.
  • A proactive, organised approach, with the confidence to take ownership and work independently.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how crop quality, consistency and production costs affect the business.
Where you'll be doing it
  • You’ll be joining an innovative, growing horticultural business using controlled-environment technology to develop new approaches to commercial plant production.
  • With ambitious plans for the future and a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, there's plenty of scope to make an impact and contribute to the next stage of the business's growth.
  • Based at a specialist growing facility you'll be part of a team where decisions are made quickly, new ideas are encouraged and individuals are trusted to take ownership. It's an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise, help shape future growing methods and grow alongside a business with a bright future.
