Exciting opportunity for an up-and-coming, driven, and enthusiastic Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality Advisor to join a successful, family-owned Construction company based in Suffolk. This long-standing regional main contractor operates across the commercial, healthcare, education, and student accommodation sectors, working repeatedly with blue-chip clients.
About the SHEQ Advisor
The role will be based at the Head Office in Suffolk but will involve frequent travel to sites throughout the UK, predominantly in the East Anglia region.
- 39 hours per week, Monday - Friday
- Provide SHEQ advice whilst coaching and guiding Construction teams.
- Report to the SHEQ manager and support/cover them during periods of leave.
- Establish and maintain the highest SHEQ standards for the business.
The ideal candidate will ideally come from a Construction background / have worked for previous Construction Main contractors
Duties & Responsibilities for the SHEQ Advisor
- Advise and coach all employees in the implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Advise on all current occupational SHE legislation.
- Conduct SHEQ inspections, ensuring compliance with company procedures and policies.
- Assist the Site Team to improve SHEQ performance on site.
- Carry out investigations into accidents/incidents as instructed by the SHEQ Manager.
- Maintain/promote liaison with officials and professional bodies (e.g., HSE, ROSPA, IOSH, BSI, EA).
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice.
- Report to the SHEQ Manager on legal/regulatory compliance and non-compliance, and suggest/promote ways of improving performance.
- Complete the necessary SHEQ training and obtain relevant professional qualifications.
Requirements / Qualifications for the role
- NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (essential)
- NVQ Level 4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice (minimum)
- Associate Member of IEMA (desirable)
Knowledge
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, 14001, 49001 (desirable)
