Job summary

Alfred H Knight is offering a Group Quality Apprentice position in Liverpool, UK. The role supports the quality approach across the group laboratory network, handling QC materials, stock control, and method validation in line with company procedures.

Successful candidates will progress to a Level 5 qualification and may transition into a full-time quality role. The package includes pension, life assurance, and employee assistance, with scope for development.

Qualifications

• Familiar with QMS and ISO accreditation requirements.
• Knowledge of lab quality control materials and stock management.
• Experience with validation and verification of methods according to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support the control and administration of QC materials across the group laboratory network.
• Maintain stock, supply, and replacement stocks to ensure continued compliance.
• Assist with validation and verification of in-use and new methods per company procedures.
• Provide administrative support to the group quality function.

Job description

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Group Quality Apprentice to join our team in Liverpool, UK. You will support the continuous improvement and delivery of the AHK Quality approach in Group Laboratory operations focussed on metals and minerals analysis. You will assist with the control and administration of internal Quality Control materials in use across the group laboratory network, including stock maintenance, supply, appropriate use, and the production of replacement stocks for continued compliance. You will also support the group quality function in assisting with the continued validation and verification of in-use and new methods by company procedures/policies, and provide administrative support.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

• Awareness of the importance of QMS and relevant ISO guidelines.
• Awareness of accreditation maintenance and the positive business impact this brings.
• Ability to demonstrate literacy and be numerate.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and Google suite of applications.
• Good level of computer literacy.
• High attention to detail with the desire to complete work to a high standard.
• Confident and articulate communicator.
• Ability to prioritise workload.
• Ambitious with a positive mindset.

Required Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Level 4 Improvement Practitioner training (or similar knowledge and experience).
• Must have Maths, English at grade 5 or above.
• A basic understanding of Chemistry.

Travel

• Overseas travel, generally no more than two weeks per trip, will be required.

Career progression

Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve a Level 5 qualification with the prospect of transitioning into a full-time position within the quality sector.
