Job summary

Chesterfield Poultry in Doncaster is seeking a Group Procurement Manager to lead sourcing, supplier management and cost-control across the business.

You will develop procurement strategies, manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts and ensure food safety compliance (HACCP, BRC, ISO) while coordinating with production and logistics to keep materials available.

The role is on-site, full-time with standard hours and benefits including a pension and private healthcare.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in procurement within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives
• Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, ingredients, and packaging
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service level agreements to achieve best value
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
• Monitor supplier performance against KPIs (quality, cost, delivery)
• Conduct regular supplier reviews and audits
• Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety
• Monitor commodity markets and manage price fluctuations
• Prepare and manage procurement budgets and forecasts
• Ensure all suppliers meet relevant food safety and quality standards (HACCP, BRC, ISO)
• Maintain full traceability of materials in line with regulatory requirements
• Support internal and external audits
• Work closely with production, planning, and logistics teams to ensure material availability
• Manage inventory levels, minimising waste and avoiding stockouts
• Oversee supplier lead times and delivery schedules
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (e.g., supplier dependency, disruptions)
• Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies

Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum

Vacancy Type: Full time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30 (One hour lunch unpaid)

Duties

Procurement & Sourcing
