Job summary

The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London, invites applications for a Group Leader in Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU). The post holder will lead a component of the portfolio, oversee ongoing trials, and help develop new trials, working within a world‑class, cancer-focused trials unit funded by Cancer Research UK.

Qualifications

• Higher degree (MSc or PhD) in medical statistics/biostatistics or an allied field (e.g. public health, epidemiology, data science) with relevant work experience.
• Significant experience as a clinical trials statistician or biostatistician within academic or commercial sectors; blending both is desirable.
• Desire to apply statistical methods to a diverse range of problems and lead a Clinical Trials Unit-based research group.

Responsibilities

• Lead a component of ICR-CTSU’s portfolio of clinical trials research and develop new trials.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the scientific life of the ICR, including cross‑institutional collaborations.
• Collaborate with international and national leaders to expand the unit’s portfolio and secure research funds.
• Contribute to trial design, conduct and analysis and participate in national/international conferences.
