Job summary

Mackie Myers Ltd is seeking a Group Financial Controller to own financial reporting, governance and control across the business. The role will lead UK finance, multi-entity consolidations, and the statutory audit process.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting expertise, capable of driving improvements and partnering with senior stakeholders in a PE-backed, multi-entity environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
• Experience in multi-entity environments.
• Strong technical accounting background with consolidations and audit.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of UK finance function and reporting.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and analyses.
• Oversee multi-entity/multi-currency group consolidations.
• Lead statutory audit process and liaise with auditors.
• Oversee statutory accounts, tax compliance and regulatory reporting.
• Drive process improvements, controls, and system enhancements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.

Our client is a private equity-backed, multi-entity business. Following continued growth, recent acquisitions and an evolving finance function, they are looking to appoint a Group Financial Controller to take ownership of financial reporting, compliance and financial control across the business.

The Role

• Take ownership of the UK finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close process.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and supporting analysis.
• Manage multi-entity and multi-currency group consolidations.
• Lead the statutory audit process and act as the key contact for external auditors and advisors.
• Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts, tax compliance and regulatory reporting.
• Ensure robust financial controls, processes and governance are maintained.
• Review financial performance, investigate variances and provide insight to senior stakeholders.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning activities.
• Maintain ownership of financial data integrity and reporting accuracy.
• Manage and develop members of the finance team.
• Partner with stakeholders across the business, providing commercial challenge and support where required.
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives and system enhancements.
• Support strategic projects, including acquisition-related activity and business growth initiatives.

The Successful Candidate

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Big 4 or Top 10 practice trained
• Experience working within a multi-entity environment.
• Strong technical accounting background with experience in financial control, statutory reporting and audit.
• Comfortable preparing and reviewing group consolidations.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to operate independently and take ownership of a broad remit.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proactive and solutions-focused, with the confidence to challenge where appropriate.
• Equally comfortable getting into transactional detail whilst maintaining a broader commercial perspective.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; NetSuite experience would be advantageous.
