Job description

Worker Type:
Employee

Application End Date:
20-06-2025

We are using and creating technology to transform operations at sea to enable people and the planet to thrive.

We are open-minded and fearless in our approach to innovation and don't believe in boundaries. We challenge everything and have massive ambitions to drag aging industries into the tech era.

We take safety, equality and education very seriously, and our responsibilities don't stop at our front door. Our business is built on the belief that there's definitely a more environmentally responsible way to operate at sea.

We employ people who share our core values. We expect our people to be courageous, trustworthy, and conscientious, driven by a desire to do the right thing. We strive for excellence, work collaboratively, and are genuinely excited by our work.

We offer opportunities for our people to develop beyond their role and span a multitude of disciplines. These are open to all, regardless of background and experience level. Working with us means being part of a team that is harnessing technology and creativity to disrupt a traditional industry.

We are not your average workplace.

Ocean Infinity is seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Financial Controller to lead and develop our financial reporting and control environment. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our consolidated financial results and in building a foundation for audit readiness, global compliance, and strategic scalability. The ideal candidate is someone who questions everything and doesn't accept "this is how it's always been done" as an answer. They will be naturally curious, adaptable to ambiguity, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. They must balance strong technical expertise with practical, scalable solutions that work across departments and jurisdictions. This person will play a key role in driving the finance transformation and building a world-class finance function fit for a high-growth, global company.

It is an opportunity for someone seeking a big opportunity to develop themselves, work with a great team and be part of something different.

What you will do:

  • Lead the preparation of monthly consolidated management accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal reporting deadlines;
  • Design and implement a new group management reporting format with clear financial commentary and insight;
  • Spearhead audit readiness and run the external group audit process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of all necessary information;
  • Develop and maintain KPI reporting to monitor operational performance across departments and regions;
  • Create a new robust financial control process and ensure reconciliations are in place and continuously improved;
  • Drive process improvements and support system optimisation projects (e.g. NetSuite enhancements) to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency;
  • Develop a high-performing finance team of approximately 15 people, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and collaboration;
  • Help maintain compliance with all local tax and statutory reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions;
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the availability of funds for daily operations and future investments;
  • Manage and continuously improve the payroll process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant legislation;
  • Support international operations by overseeing transfer pricing, intercompany settlements, and global tax compliance;
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with corporate governance standards.
Who you are:
  • ACA/ACCA qualified with 5-10 years' experience in accounting or finance;
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, controls, tax, and compliance (US GAAP, IFRS, FRS 102);
  • Experience in group consolidations, intercompany processes, and transfer pricing;
  • Proficient in Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred); comfortable leading system improvements;
  • Commercially minded with a solution-focused approach and strong communication skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail with a track record of process improvement and control implementation;
  • Experience operating across international jurisdictions and fast-paced environments;
  • Able to simplify complexity and influence stakeholders at all levels;
  • Adaptable, curious, and proactive - thrives in ambiguity and drives continuous improvement;
  • Passion for automation and building a modern, scalable finance function.
Salary for this position: Up to £120,000 per annum

Salary: The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.

What you can expect:

At Ocean Infinity, we believe in creating equal opportunities for all, celebrating each and everyone's differences. We are driven by transforming the industry, through our technology, thoughts, behaviours and actions. Being inclusive and respectful to all is fundamental to who we are. It is the right thing to do and enables innovation and creativity to thrive.

There is more work to be done, and we know that we aren't perfect, but our commitment to these values is unwavering. They are central to our mission and the impact we have on the industry, meaning, we cannot live without them.
