Group Financial Controller

The time to join is now, as the company experiences significant YoY growth, rolls out exciting products, and undertakes multiple capex projects to reinforce its market position.

As part of the ongoing growth, this well-funded, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced company is seeking a Group Financial Controller to drive professionalisation and business growth.

Reporting to the Finance Director, key responsibilities include:

  1. Lead and mentor a financial control & finance operations team of 5, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  2. Identify and implement process, systems, and people efficiency improvements.
  3. Own the financial control and operations environment, creating a function suitable for a rapid growth, PE-backed business.
  4. Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial statements and working papers monthly.
  5. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in financial reporting (UK GAAP).
  6. Manage cash flow and optimise financial resources.
  7. Maintain financial control frameworks, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  8. Oversee transactional finance, payroll, treasury, and cash management (AP & AR), transforming and automating these areas.
  9. Lead project accounting and reporting.

Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Ensure audit readiness and coordinate external audits.
  2. Maintain compliance with tax regulations, UK reporting, and global governance.
  3. Oversee tax strategy, transfer pricing, and R&D tax credits.
  4. Collaborate with CTO, COO, and Sales teams.
  5. Strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

Strategic initiatives:

  1. Lead the development of financial systems, implementing best-in-class platforms.
  2. Drive digital transformation and automation, particularly with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  3. Work with technology teams to improve data integrity, reporting, and automation.

Growth and M&A support:

  1. Support expansion through M&A activities, funding, and post-acquisition integration.
  2. Implement scalable governance and processes for acquired entities.

Candidate profile:

  • Proven experience transforming financial operations in fast-paced, scalable companies.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA preferred) with strong communication skills, drive, curiosity, and intellectual horsepower.
  • Experience building high-performing finance teams.
  • Expertise in financial control, audit, statutory reporting, UK GAAP, and governance.
  • Background in Technology/XaaS businesses, ideally PE/VC-backed.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems, preferably Microsoft D365 F&O.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and adaptability skills.
  • Process improvement mindset and proactive in change management.
