Job summary

Halfords is seeking a Group Financial Accountant to join the dynamic Finance team in the UK. You will work on group consolidation, statutory reporting, external audits, investor communications, and technical accounting, partnering with senior stakeholders to support high-quality financial decision-making.

This role suits a newly or recently qualified ACA/ACCA with a passion for detail, process improvements, and delivering accurate reports across multiple entities.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with ACA or ACCA, newly or recently qualified.
• Big Four background or experience in financial reporting within a listed, multi-entity Group environment is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and systems skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations with timely resolution of items.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities including journal postings and Group consolidation.
• Deliver accurate financial and management reporting across multiple business units in compliance with IFRS/FRS standards.
• Assist in preparation of Group financial statements, preliminary results announcements and investor presentations.
• Own subsidiary statutory accounts ensuring IFRS, FRS 101 and FRS 102 compliance.
• Liaise with external auditors, providing documentation and accounting papers.
• Contribute to process improvements and strengthen internal controls across reporting.
• Support wider Group Financial Reporting Team on technical accounting matters and ad-hoc finance projects.
