Job summary

Head4Talent is recruiting on behalf of a growing South Wales-based business seeking an experienced Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership, drive profitability and shape the long-term growth plan.

Reporting to the executive leadership team, you will lead financial strategy, oversee governance and compliance, manage external auditors, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to optimise pricing, contracts and capital allocation.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.
• Strong IFRS accounting expertise.
• Proven ability to lead high-performing finance teams.
• Ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Strategic and proactive, comfortable challenging and influencing across the business.

• Developing and delivering the financial strategy to support sustainable, profitable growth and long-term value creation.
• Reviewing and renegotiating supply chain contracts to improve commercial terms, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Leading long‑term financial modelling and investment analysis to assess the viability and financial impact of transitioning to low‑carbon activities.
• Providing strategic oversight of the cost base, protecting profitability and ensuring resilience.
• Partnering with the executive team to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
• Reviewing and reshaping the annual commercial strategy to reflect market conditions and objectives.
• Ensuring robust corporate governance and statutory compliance, and managing external audits.

Reporting to the executive leadership team, the Finance Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the company’s financial strategy. This is a significant leadership opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who can combine strong technical expertise with commercial insight and proven operational influence.

The Role:

• Developing and delivering the financial strategy to support sustainable, profitable growth and long-term value creation.
• Reviewing and renegotiating supply chain contracts to improve commercial terms, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Leading long‑term financial modelling and investment analysis to assess the viability and financial impact of transitioning to low‑carbon activities in support of the company’s carbon reduction strategy.
• Providing strategic oversight of the cost base, protecting profitability and ensuring the business remains resilient in changing economic conditions.
• Partnering with the executive team and departmental leaders to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, manage expenditure and enhance financial performance.
• Reviewing and reshaping the annual commercial strategy, working collaboratively with the Directors and departmental heads to ensure pricing reflects market conditions, operational costs and commercial objectives.
• Ensuring robust corporate governance and statutory compliance, maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and regulatory adherence.
• Leading the annual audit process and managing effective, value‑adding relationships with external auditors and other key stakeholders.

About You:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, with significant post‑qualification experience in a senior finance leadership role.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, including a comprehensive understanding of IFRS requirements.
• A proven track record of leading, developing and motivating high‑performing finance teams.
• The ability to build and manage effective relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear, actionable business decisions.
• A strategic and proactive approach, with the confidence to challenge, influence and partner with colleagues across the organisation.
