Job summary

Virgin Active is seeking a Group Exercise Coordinator on a 6-month contract in Islington, London. You will elevate our group exercise timetable, leading an instructor team and delivering engaging, high-energy classes with hospitality.

You will recruit, audition and onboard instructors, coach them with feedback and development opportunities, and coordinate workshops and events to boost participation and revenue.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Personal Training and Group Exercise qualification.
• Experience running a successful group exercise timetable.
• Passion for health, wellness and delivering world-class experiences.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to develop a diverse instructor team.
• Commercial awareness and confidence interpreting performance data.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support the execution and optimisation of a balanced, engaging and commercially strong group exercise timetable.
• Deliver your own classes with energy, creativity and unreasonable hospitality.
• Recruit, audition and onboard high-quality instructors, building a talented and motivated team.
• Coach and develop instructors through regular feedback and professional development opportunities.
• Coordinate workshops, masterclasses and themed events that increase participation and revenue.
• Maintain quality control by auditing sessions and ensuring consistently high standards.
• Ensure all classes are compliant with health & safety and statutory requirements.
• Monitor attendance, occupancy and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Act as a visible ambassador on the gym floor, building strong and genuine member relationships.
• Minimise cancellations and ensure operational excellence across the programme.
• Collaborate with PT, Events and wider club teams to deliver a seamless member experience.
