Job summary

PTSG Group is seeking a fully qualified Group Accountant to own critical Group finance processes, including monthly consolidation, fixed assets and VAT. You will support statutory reporting, acquisition accounting and the year-end audit in a large, acquisition-led business.

Qualifications

• Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to apply it in practice.
• Experience in group accounting within a large, multi‑entity organisation or centralised Group finance function.
• Hands-on responsibility for monthly consolidations and Group reporting.
• Experience with monthly consolidation process and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Knowledge of VAT, tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Ability to implement and improve accounting processes and controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly Group consolidation process, including consolidation adjustments.
• Drive a timely, controlled and accurate period-end close.
• Manage the Group's fixed assets and review reconciliations.
• Ensure central accounting transactions relating to tax, insurance, professional fees and investments are recorded accurately.
• Complete or review assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Support technical accounting matters and the Group accounting manual implementation.
• Assist with acquisition accounting as new businesses join the Group.
• Act as a key contact for the external audit and support the preparation of consolidated accounts.
• Assist with unaudited statutory accounts across the Group.
• Work with advisers on consolidated corporation tax calculations.
• Review and improve accounting processes and financial controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve Sage and other finance systems.
• Support wider finance projects and process improvements.
