Job Description:

Supporting Education Group (SEG) is a leading provider of educational services with a vision to become a global platform empowering the world of education. Our 1,700 people are focused on improving education by delivering the best services, people and training to the sector.
Working with 17,000 education organisations, in 70 countries, training and deploying tens of thousands of educators annually, our impact for good in the sector is significant.
We are highly commercial and entrepreneurial, committed to growth, entering new markets, developing new propositions, and completing further acquisitions.
The Impact You'll Make
As Group Business Development Director, you'll take a lead on identifying and driving strategic growth opportunities that involve more than one SEG service.
While each business area drives its own organic growth, we work across the group and under the SEG brand on integrated propositions for large school groups, cross-sales and referrals schemes, marketing amplification, strategic government bids and key account relationships.
You will lead with influence internally and externally. Bringing together teams across our Staffing, Services, Qualifications, and Learning divisions, you'll shape innovative strategic solutions for clients. You will elevate our Group brand and help us achieve our mission of transforming more lives through education.
We are flexible on location. Your work will be a true mix of home, office, client sites, external events, and meeting government, school groups and partner organisations.

Why Join Us?

  • Lead Strategic Growth: Drive SEG's high-potential business development initiatives across brands, practices, and markets.
  • Shape the Future: Launch new business development campaigns and service propositions, turning ideas into impact across the education sector.
  • Champion Collaboration: Align sales and partnership teams with a shared purpose, ensuring our clients benefit from the breadth of our expertise.
  • Drive Sales Excellence: Support and develop strategic account-based selling, co-sell processes, and client-focused growth strategies.
  • Manage with Influence: Provide dotted-line leadership to business development, sales, and partnership leads across the group, championing a culture of results and collaboration.
  • Build Our Profile: Represent SEG externally through thought leadership, events, and strategic content that positions us as a sector leader.
  • Leverage Data for Results: Embed systems and insights to measure, refine, and report on progress against strategic targets.

What You Can Offer

  • Significant business development and strategic sales leadership experience within the education or education services sector
  • Proven success in complex, multi-brand organisations
  • Experience in account-based sales and consultative, solution-based selling
  • Strong track record in major bids, partnerships, or co-sell initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree, MBA or equivalents preferred
  • High-level engagement experience with central and local government and senior education stakeholders

We're Also Keen On

  • Ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders across functions
  • A structured, data-informed approach to sales strategy and delivery
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence in public speaking and thought leadership
  • Energy, clarity, and integrity to lead strategic change and foster team engagement
  • Whilst we work in a hybrid way, with collaboration being one of our values, we'd expect you to regularly be in our support centre in London or attending client meetings, events or similar activities
  • 28 days holiday and get an extra day for each year you stay with us, up to max 33 days PLUS bank holidays
  • Health Cash Plan, once you've passed probation
  • From day 1, free life insurance covering up to x4 your salary
  • We'll both add money into your pension pot after 3 months
  • Choose what flexible benefits you want after you've passed probation - this could be buying extra holiday, dental, topping up your healthcare plan, bikes, gym membership, electric cars and give as you earn
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Volunteer days - 3 paid volunteer days a year, with two dedicated to Education
  • Performance based bonus and an opportunity to participate in an EBT share scheme.

By joining Supporting Education Group, you will become part of a community that is dedicated to transforming lives and sustaining communities, where your voice is heard, your ideas are valued, and your individuality is celebrated. Together, we will continue to advance our passion for education and build brighter futures for all.
