Job summary

Brackenberry Ltd, Caerphilly, is recruiting a Group Accountant on a 6-month contract to join the Council's Corporate Accountancy team. The role will lead revenue, capital and treasury accounting, coordinate the final accounts process, support budget monitoring and provide technical advice on Local Government accounting.

The successful candidate will have extensive Local Authority accounting experience, strong Excel and data analysis skills, and the ability to manage and develop a team.

Qualifications

• Accountancy qualification or equivalent (Level 6/Degree or AAT).
• Knowledge of CIPFA accounting, treasury management and prudential codes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the corporate accounts closure process annually.
• Prepare the Authority's year-end consolidated accounts and final Statement of Accounts.
• Coordinate the annual closing timetable and guidance for accounts.
• Account for the corporate balance sheet and perform ledger reconciliations through trial balance.
• Liaise with external auditors to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate completion and submission of statutory financial returns.
