Groundworks Quantity Surveyor - Established Construction Firm - Redditch

MCG Construction is representing a well-regarded construction company in Redditch, looking for an experienced Groundworks Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to take charge of cost management and financial planning for groundwork projects from start to finish.

Role Overview:

As a Groundworks Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all financial aspects of groundwork projects are efficiently managed. You will collaborate closely with Contracts & Project Managers, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain cost control, optimise project performance, and ensure financial success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and submit detailed monthly payment applications in a timely manner.
2. Track project costs, monitor expenditures, and compile cost reports aligned with valuation procedures.
3. Provide cost estimates for variations, ensuring all changes are commercially approved before work proceeds.
4. Oversee client accounts, addressing any payment issues promptly and effectively.
5. Work alongside project teams to develop accurate monthly forecasts and maintain financial performance.
6. Source, negotiate, and manage subcontractor and supplier agreements.
7. Identify and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality and safety standards.
8. Conduct site visits to assess project progress, compliance, and overall performance.
9. Ensure teams have access to the latest project documentation, including drawings and tender allowances.
10. Keep well-organised financial records, including contracts, invoices, and project correspondence.
11. Mentor and provide guidance to junior quantity surveyors and other team members.
12. Build and nurture strong client relationships to support project success.

What You'll Need:

1. A solid background in Groundworks Quantity Surveying, with proven experience in cost control.
2. Strong knowledge of groundworks, construction contracts, and commercial best practices.
3. Exceptional negotiation and communication skills with the ability to foster relationships.
4. Proficiency in cost management tools and commercial software.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
6. A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a similar field.
