Job summary

Barker Ross Group is seeking an experienced 360 Excavator Operator for a 7-month infrastructure project on the Shetland Islands. The role involves heavy open-cut trenching and duct installation in fields and peatland.

You will work outdoors on a demanding site, with 11 days on / 4 days off rotation, travel to Shetland and accommodation paid by the client. A CPCS/NPORS ticket is required and references must be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience laying/reinstating tarmac essential.
• Previous utilities/infrastructure experience preferred.
• Fit and capable of outdoor work on a demanding site.
• References required from previous employers.
• CPCS/NPORS qualification required.
• 11 days on / 4 days off rotation with travel to Shetland and accommodation paid by the client.

Responsibilities

• Operate 360 excavator on open-cut trenching projects.
• Install three 8-inch power ducts and fibre optic cables.
• Manage 1500m trenching and 2400m carriageway works including reinstatement.
• Work outdoors in varying weather; ensure safety and compliance.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced 360 Excavator Operator for a 7-month infrastructure project in the Shetland Islands.

The project involves approximately 1,500 metres of large open-cut trenching through fields and peatland, installing three 8-inch power ducts and fibre optic cables, plus a further 2,400 metres of trenching along a carriageway, including tarmac reinstatement.

Requirements

• Experience laying/reinstating tarmac is essential
• Previous utilities, ducting, trenching or infrastructure experience preferred
• Fit and capable of working on a demanding outdoor project
• Reliable and able to commit to the full rotation
• References required from previous employers
• Relevant CPCS/NPORS qualification required11 days on / 4 days off, with travel to and from Shetland and accommodation paid for by the client.
