Job summary

Haileybury UK is seeking a Groundsperson to join the Estates team. The role focuses on the efficient maintenance and development of sports playing surfaces and surrounding areas, ensuring safe, well-presented surfaces for pupils, staff and visitors throughout the year.

The role also covers landscaping across the site, with duties including lifting and manual handling. A full clean UK driving licence is required; NVQ Level 2 in Grounds Maintenance or related fields is desirable, as are

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop Haileybury’s sports playing surfaces and surrounding areas to high quality standards.
  • Carry out general maintenance and development of landscaped and garden areas across the school site.
  • Follow safe working practices and procedures; lift and perform manual handling as required.
  • Work as part of the Estates team with weekend and rota-based weekday hours to cover fixtures and events.

Job description

Haileybury is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable Groundsperson to join our Estates team.

Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient maintenance and development of Haileybury’s sports playing surfaces, associated structures and surrounding areas. The role is key to ensuring that safe, consistent, well-presented and high-quality playing surfaces are available for pupils, staff and visitors throughout the year.

The role will also involve the general maintenance and development of landscaped and garden areas across the School site. Duties will include lifting and manual handling, and the successful applicant will be expected to follow appropriate procedures and safe working practices.

The post-holder will work as part of a wider Estates team and will need to take a flexible and practical approach to the varied requirements of a busy school environment.

The successful applicant should have a good general level of education (GCSE or equivalent) and hold a full, clean UK driving licence. An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Grounds Maintenance, Horticulture or a related subject would be desirable, as would PA1/PA2/PA6, First Aid and Chainsaw qualifications.

This is a full‑time role, with the post‑holder required to work weekends and some additional weekday hours on a rota basis to support the set‑up and smooth running of sports fixtures, training sessions and other external events.
