Haileybury is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable Groundsperson to join our Estates team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient maintenance and development of Haileybury’s sports playing surfaces, associated structures and surrounding areas. The role is key to ensuring that safe, consistent, well-presented and high-quality playing surfaces are available for pupils, staff and visitors throughout the year.
The role will also involve the general maintenance and development of landscaped and garden areas across the School site. Duties will include lifting and manual handling, and the successful applicant will be expected to follow appropriate procedures and safe working practices.
The post-holder will work as part of a wider Estates team and will need to take a flexible and practical approach to the varied requirements of a busy school environment.
The successful applicant should have a good general level of education (GCSE or equivalent) and hold a full, clean UK driving licence. An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Grounds Maintenance, Horticulture or a related subject would be desirable, as would PA1/PA2/PA6, First Aid and Chainsaw qualifications.
This is a full‑time role, with the post‑holder required to work weekends and some additional weekday hours on a rota basis to support the set‑up and smooth running of sports fixtures, training sessions and other external events.
