Job summary

Lanes Group seeks an experienced Groundsman to support vegetation management across London rail sites. You will perform vegetation clearance and chainsaw tasks within live rail environments, working as part of a safety-conscious team.

Requires NPTC certifications and a full UK driving licence with few penalty points; sponsorship may be required. Competitive daily rate and weekly pay offered as part of a permanent, full-time role.

Qualifications

• Valid NPTC certifications for chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting.
• Experience in vegetation and tree works within rail or infrastructure.
• Basic Track Awareness and safe systems of work knowledge.
• Sentinel sponsorship may be required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake chainsaw operations, up to 380mm, with maintenance and cross-cutting.
• Carry out vegetation clearance: strimming, hedge cutting and brush cutting.
• Work safely within live rail environments according to risk assessments and rail standards.
• Assist with site set-up, clearance and safe working zones.
• Maintain tools, plant and equipment in safe condition.
• Support Team Leaders and Supervisors to deliver work to programme and quality standards.

We are seeking experienced and safety-conscious Groundsman to support the delivery of vegetation management works across multiple rail sites throughout London. This role involves working within live rail environments, undertaking vegetation clearance and tree works as part of a skilled and professional team.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake chainsaw operations, including maintenance, cross-cutting, and felling small trees up to 380mm in accordance with NPTC certification
• Carry out vegetation clearance activities, including strimming, hedge cutting, and brush cutting
• Work safely within live rail environments in line with site-specific risk assessments and rail standards
• Assist with site set-up, clearance, and safe working zones
• Maintain tools, plant, and equipment in safe working condition
• Support Team Leaders and Supervisors in delivering work to programme and quality standards

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Sentinel (valid sponsorship required)
