Job summary

Langdale Leisure Limited is seeking a Grounds Team Member to join Langdale Hotel and Spa in Ambleside. The role focuses on maintaining outdoor spaces to a high standard and ensuring safety and visual appeal in line with UK regulations.

You will operate and maintain grounds equipment, perform turf care tasks, and support seasonal operations. The role requires reliability, teamwork, and a proactive approach to site maintenance at Langdale Hotel and Spa.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture preferred.
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Basic knowledge of turf management practices.
• Understanding of UK health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and COSHH.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine grounds maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, edging, and hedge trimming.
• Maintain estate and amenity areas, including off site where required.
• Perform turf care activities such as aeration, scarification, seeding, and topdressing.
• Operate and maintain a variety of machinery and tools (e.g. mowers, strimmers, blowers).
• Apply fertilisers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with COSHH regulations and safe systems of work.
• Carry out litter picking, leaf clearance, and general site tidiness.
• Assist with the maintenance of hard landscaping (paths, fencing, signage, and fixtures).
• Support seasonal operations such as gritting and snow clearance.
• Conduct daily equipment checks and report faults or maintenance requirements.
• Follow risk assessments and comply with all health & safety policies.
• Work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.

• Hours: 39 hours per week
• Location: This position is based on site at Langdale Hotel and Spa, Ambleside, LA22 9JD
• Live-in accommodation may be available for exceptional candidates

Role Summary

To carry out a range of grounds maintenance duties to ensure outdoor areas such as estate facilities, public spaces, and landscaped environments are maintained to a high standard, safe for use, and visually appealing, in line with UK health and safety regulations.
