Based primarily at Ystrad Mynach, you'll be part of a collaborative team that takes pride in delivering high-quality facilities and grounds maintenance services.
Your new roleAs an Estates & Facilities Officer (Grounds person), you will be responsible for maintaining the college's grounds and outdoor spaces, ensuring they remain safe, welcoming and visually appealing throughout the year.
Your duties will include operating specialist grounds maintenance equipment, grass cutting, hedge maintenance, litter collection, drainage maintenance and supporting general estate operations.In addition, you will undertake key-holder responsibilities, assist with opening and closing buildings, respond to out-of-hours alarm call-outs and carry out security patrols across the campus.
You'll also support maintenance activities, furniture moves, deliveries, stock control and work closely with contractors and colleagues to maintain compliance, health and safety standards and a positive learning environment.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will have experience in grounds maintenance, estates, facilities management or a similar operational environment.
You will possess strong practical skills and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
You will also demonstrate: Relevant tickets/certifications for the safe operation of strimmers, ride-on and pedestrian mowers, and other grounds maintenance machinery.
Practical experience using a variety of grounds maintenance equipment, including strimmers, mowers, hedge cutters and leaf blowers.
Experience carrying out maintenance or grounds-related duties.
The ability to operate safely and effectively in a busy multi-user environment.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
Knowledge of health and safety practices or a willingness to undertake training.
A flexible approach to working hours, including participation in an out-of-hours rota.
A willingness to travel between campuses when required.
A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
A current UK driving licence.
Experience working within an educational, public sector or large multi-site environment.
