Job summary

Hiddenwell is seeking a Grounds Person for Ardencote Manor in Warwickshire to care for our gardens, lawns and outdoor spaces year-round. You’ll work closely with the Estate & Facilities Manager to keep the grounds safe, welcoming and beautifully presented for guests.

This full-time role involves mowing, planting and maintenance across lawns, trees, shrubs and pathways, with a focus on high standards and proactive care in all seasons.

Qualifications

• No formal horticultural qualifications required.
• Practical, reliable and enjoys working outdoors.
• Comfortable using tools and equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Mowing, trimming, edging, weeding and watering.
• Caring for lawns, gardens, plants, trees and shrubs.
• Keeping pathways and outdoor areas clean, tidy and free from leaves and debris.
• Helping with seasonal planting and landscaping projects.
• Planting trees, shrubs, flowers and other plants.
• Monitoring health of grounds and reporting concerns.
• Using grounds maintenance machinery safely.
• Supporting seasonal maintenance throughout the year.
• Assisting improvements to gardens and landscaped areas.

What You’ll Be Doing

We’re looking for a Grounds Person to join the team at Ardencote, helping us care for our gardens, grounds and outdoor areas throughout the year.

Set within beautiful Warwickshire countryside, Ardencote is a destination hotel and spa where the appearance of our grounds plays an important part in the experience we create for our guests. From lawns and landscaped gardens to pathways and planting, you’ll help make sure our outdoor spaces are always safe, welcoming and beautifully presented.

No two days will be exactly the same. Your role will include:

• Mowing, trimming, edging, weeding and watering
• Caring for lawns, gardens, plants, trees and shrubs
• Keeping pathways and outdoor areas clean, tidy and free from leaves and debris
• Helping with seasonal planting and landscaping projects
• Planting trees, shrubs, flowers and other plants
• Keeping an eye on the health and condition of our grounds and reporting any concerns
• Using grounds maintenance tools and machinery safely
• Helping with seasonal maintenance throughout the year
• Supporting improvements to our gardens and landscaped areas

You’ll work closely with our Estate & Facilities Manager and wider team, planning your work around the operation of the hotel and spa and helping us maintain the high standards our guests expect.

About You

You don’t necessarily need formal horticultural qualifications. What’s most important is that you’re practical, reliable and enjoy working outdoors.

• Are happy working outdoors in different weather conditions
• Are comfortable with the physical nature of grounds maintenance work
• Have a friendly and professional approach

Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, landscaping or grounds maintenance would be an advantage, particularly if you have experience using grounds maintenance machinery or knowledge of plants, lawns, pests and diseases — but we’d also welcome applications from people with the right attitude and a genuine interest in the role.

Additional Information

• 40 hours per week – Full-Time permanent position
• Working 5 days out of 7 per week (including weekends and bank holidays, you will need to be flexible to the business needs)
• Right to work in the UK required as time of application (visa sponsorship is not available)
• Salary: £28,000 per annum
