Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a grounds maintenance assistant in Barrow-in-Furness to provide pro-active service delivery in upkeep of grounds provision. You will support both planned and reactive tasks across the site, including seasonal grass cutting, gritting, weed control, drainage work and hedge pruning.

The role requires a full driving licence, good communication skills, and a smart, approachable appearance.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence is required.
• Good communication skills in verbal and written formats.
• Previous grounds maintenance experience or qualifications are desirable.
• Smart and presentable appearance is expected.
• Approachable and personable demeanor is important.
• Experience in front-facing customer service is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Seasonal grass cutting where required.
• Seasonal site gritting for snow and ice.
• Weed killing and removal of weeds as required.
• Ground waterways, drainage and ditch clearances.
• Pruning of trees, hedges and shrubs as required.
• Maintenance of all planted areas within site.
• Support seasonal planting where required.
• Upkeep and maintenance of equipment.
• Assistance to other teams when grounds maintenance is up to date within skill level.
• Load and unload deliveries.
• Moving of furniture and equipment, ensuring compliance with manual handling, risk assessments and methods statements.
• Moving of stores and equipment, ensuring compliance with manual handling, risk assessments and methods statements, client specific access permits and equipment move and store procedures.
