Major Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Operative/Cleaner in the city of London to support the Environment Department.

Location: Aldersbrook Road E12

Start: As soon as possible

Basic Pay: £17 per hour

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Purpose

To maintain the grounds, memorial gardens, offices, and public conveniences of the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium to high standards of appearance, while maintaining good relationships with mourners, visitors, and staff.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Carry out cleaning of offices, training rooms, and all public conveniences at the cemetery and crematorium, ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
2. Drive a utility vehicle or cycle within the grounds safely.
3. Perform grass cutting duties using industrial machinery, and undertake leaf and grass raking as needed.
4. Sweep roadways and paths regularly to keep areas tidy.
5. Undertake turf laying and re-turf sunken areas to maintain appearance.
6. Plant roses, shrubs, and flowers using proper horticultural techniques.
7. Assist visitors by providing information or guidance with sensitivity.
8. Report and assist with repairs for any damage or vandalism on site.
