Job description

Grounds Maintenance Operative

Grade 2, £24,027 up to £24,404 per annum pro rata

37 hours per week, permanent contract

Start and finish times may vary depending on shift, normally working Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 3.30pm and Friday 7.30am to 3.00pm.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Grounds Maintenance Operative in the Green Spaces team.

Working as part of a mobile team, you will carry out all aspects of gardening, grounds maintenance, and other horticultural tasks at various sites throughout the borough, working outdoors all year round.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Performing general gardening duties such as maintenance of flower beds, digging, grass cutting, hedge trimming, forking, hoeing, hand weeding, and tending to bedding, bulbs, and shrubs.
  2. Operating horticultural and grass-cutting machinery.
  3. Engaging in hard and soft landscaping work; experience with fencing, paving, and pesticide application is desirable.
  4. Assisting with external cleaning duties, including litter picking, sweeping, and emptying litter bins.
