Job summary

Darwin Escapes is seeking a Grounds, Maintenance and Hot Tubs Assistant for Mullion Cove. You will maintain the park’s grounds, facilities and accommodation, ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming environment for guests.

The role requires a hands-on, proactive approach and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The position is permanent and full-time, with weekend and bank holiday work as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or general maintenance preferred.
• Hands-on, practical approach with willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general grounds maintenance across the park.
• Maintain lawns, flower beds, shrubs, hedges and other landscaped areas.
• Carry out mowing, strimming, pruning, planting, weeding and gardening duties.
• Keep outdoor areas clean, tidy and well-presented.
• Assist with general maintenance and repairs across the park, accommodation and facilities.
• Complete routine checks of grounds, buildings, equipment and outdoor facilities.
• Report hazards, defects or maintenance issues promptly.
• Support upkeep of guest facilities and amenities.
• Assist with seasonal grounds preparation and maintenance.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, practical, and hardworking Grounds & Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Mullion Cove.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in keeping their surroundings clean and well‑maintained, and has a hands‑on approach to general maintenance and grounds work. You will play an important role in maintaining the park’s grounds, facilities, accommodation, and outdoor areas, helping to ensure that Mullion Cove remains a safe, attractive, and welcoming environment for our guests.

This is a varied and active role, suited to someone who is proactive, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be involved in a range of grounds and maintenance duties, from general upkeep and gardening to basic repairs and maintaining park facilities.

This is a permanent, full‑time position working variable days, including weekends and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general grounds maintenance across the park
• Maintain lawns, grassed areas, flower beds, shrubs, hedges, and other landscaped areas
• Carry out mowing, strimming, pruning, planting, weeding, and general gardening duties
• Keep paths, outdoor areas, and communal spaces clean, tidy, and well‑presented
• Assist with general maintenance and repairs across the park, accommodation, and facilities
• Respond to maintenance and grounds‑related requests in a timely and efficient manner
• Carry out routine checks and inspections of grounds, buildings, equipment, and outdoor facilities
• Assist with basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and general maintenance tasks where required
• Support the upkeep and presentation of guest facilities and amenities
• Assist with seasonal grounds preparation and maintenance
• Use grounds and maintenance tools and equipment safely and responsibly
• Support planned and preventative maintenance programmes
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures
• Report any hazards, defects, or maintenance issues promptly
• Work collaboratively with other departments to support the overall guest experience
• Maintain consistently high standards across the park
• Clean, maintain and service hot tubs to ensure they meet company and safety standards
• Conduct regular checks of hot tubs, plant equipment and outdoor areas

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, maintenance, or a similar role is desirable
• Practical, hands‑on approach with a willingness to learn new skills
• Basic knowledge of gardening, grounds maintenance, or general building maintenance
• Experience using grounds maintenance tools and equipment is desirable
• Good practical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
