Job summary

Our Client in Liverpool seeks a Design Engineer (ground improvement) to lead detailed design work for ground improvement schemes, including pre/post contract design and settlement analyses. You will contribute to bids, deliver post contract reports, and provide on-site design advice while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

The role is hybrid, combining 3–4 days at home with 1–2 days in the office, and requires experience with VSC and PLAXIS 2D/3D.

Qualifications

• Experience of ground improvement design and techniques such as rigid inclusions and VSC.
• Proven experience in Plaxis 2D/3D settlement analysis software.
• Ability to understand and interpret SI / GI data.
• Produce competitive, innovative and solution driven ground improvement designs.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out detailed designs both pre and post contract for ground improvement schemes.
• Carrying out settlement analysis to assist in the bidding process.
• Assisting the work winning team in securing tenders with comprehensive design assistance.
• Providing post contract design reports.
• Providing design advice and assistance when contracts are being carried out on site.
• Assessing design risks and ensuring health and safety procedures are met.
• Developing relationships with clients where design input is required.
• Continuously improve the design process, gather feedback and review projects to a high design standard.
• Ensure design submissions and client communications are presented clearly and on time.
