Job summary

Wentworth is delivering ground engineering design within a consultancy, focusing on piling and deep foundations. The Engineer supports delivery under guidance of senior engineers across projects, contributing to safe, buildable design and managing geotechnical risks.

Working with contractors and project teams, you will develop design calculations, interpret ground investigations, and help review proposals. The role offers learning and professional development in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Degree (or higher) in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Working toward chartership (CEng) with a relevant professional institution.
• Experience or a developing capability in ground engineering, with exposure to piling and deep foundation design.
• Good understanding of soil behaviour, basic soil–structure interaction concepts, and ground risk principles.
• Experience working within a consultancy or contractor-facing environment, with an appreciation of buildability and construction methods.
• Ability to work on technically challenging elements of projects with guidance and supervision.
• Clear communicator, able to explain design intent, assumptions, and technical issues to project team members.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of piling systems and deep foundations per Eurocodes and standards.
• Interpret ground investigation data and contribute to ground models.
• Support design of working platforms, shallow foundations, and interfaces with earthworks.
• Prepare clear design calculations, sketches and reports with clear assumptions.
• Collaborate with contractors to ensure practical, buildable designs.
• Identify geotechnical and construction risks and contribute to mitigation proposals.
• Support design checking and respond to comments from senior engineers.
