Job summary

Cambridge Aerospace is hiring an Application Software Engineer to own the design and development of our ground control station software, from concept through integration and test. You will define the application architecture and work with embedded, systems, and test engineers to build reliable, responsive operator tools.

You'll take features from prototype to field deployment, and your work will shape how operators monitor, command, and trust our systems.

Qualifications

• Experience owning ground control software from requirements to test.
• Strong Rust experience, with asynchronous design.
• Experience building production UI in Flutter/Dart.
• Understanding of UI/UX for operator-facing displays.
• Experience with external hardware integration over network/serial interfaces.
• Strong practices in automated testing, version control, CI/CD, and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture of the application software with the team.
• Build backend services in Rust or UI in Flutter with accreditation in mind.
• Design interfaces between ground station, vehicles, sensors, and third parties.
• Translate operator needs into intuitive, low-workload interfaces.
• Extend CI, automated testing, and release infrastructure.
• Contribute to engineering decisions and code reviews.
