OXBO is delighted to be working with an international Solar IPP to add a Grid Connections Manager to their development team.
As a company, they have over 500MW of projects that are well progressed, either in planning or soon to be submitted, and they are looking to originate further projects.
The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the company's existing grid connection offers and advancing them where possible. You will also be submitting new applications.
- Advise and support the team on a grid-led approach to site finding, identifying available capacity, points of connection, and optimizing grid connection solutions for projects.
- Assess early-stage project opportunities through feasibility studies, liaising with network operators, and working with third-party consultants as required.
- Prepare and manage DNO and TNO grid connection applications (G99), offers, and agreements.
- Interpret and advise the team on connection offers and identify project risks from technical and commercial perspectives.
- Manage contracts and relationships for development schemes, including moving sites through the BEGA/BELLA and ModApp processes, reporting on milestones, and communicating development risks to the team.
- Provide electrical engineering advice during the design, procurement, and construction stages of project delivery.
- Advise on regulatory changes and future network development by liaising with network operators, REGEN, SEUK, and OFGEM to support and inform the development team’s activities.
Requirements
- Knowledge of and understanding of the workings of DNOs, TSOs, iDNOs, and ICPs as they relate to energy development projects.
- Experience initiating contact and building relationships with DNOs, TSOs, iDNOs, and ICPs to drive projects forward.
- Knowledge of grid upgrades and reinforcement projects that present development opportunities, and ability to stay updated on these.
- Background in energy project development, particularly in the pre-construction phase.
- Ability to identify grid capacity and create the necessary technical documentation for successful applications.
- Desire to take ownership of individual projects and be judged on their success.
- Interest in renewable energy development with an existing network within the industry.
